17th Speech Science and Technology Conference (SST2018)
4 - 7 December, 2018
The Australasian Speech Science and Technology Association and UNSW Sydney are pleased to host the 17th Australasian International Conference on Speech Science and Technology. SST 2018 will be held in the beautiful beachside village of Coogee, close to Sydney airport and Sydney city, and a favourite destination for visitors in the Australian summer.
SST welcomes submissions from across the range of speech science and speech technology research areas. All submissions are peer reviewed, and the conference series has enjoyed strong international participation.
AusTalk and Alveo Session, Thursday 6th 1:20-2:20 – All welcome
The AusTalk corpus (https://austalk.edu.au), the largest modern dataset of audio-visual Australian English, is available to researchers through Alveo (https://alveo.edu.au/). To improve access to this important resource, we are holding a special session at SST 2018. We invite anyone with an interest in accessing or using AusTalk to participate in the session and to provide input into the next stage of development. We particularly would like to hear from researchers who have tried using AusTalk and who have experienced difficulties.
The conference will be held at the Coogee Bay Hotel, a short bus ride from the city. Apart from the conference reception and banquet, many social activities are possible nearby e.g. bushwalks, snorkelling, surfing.
Special event: Mal Webb puts the vocal apparatus through its paces (sneak preview).
